Eluru: Covid-19 is spreading fast in West Godavari district prompting officials to consider impose lockdown in several areas. Confirming this, Collector R Muthyala Raju informed the officials that depending on the number of cases, appropriate measures would be taken.

Convening videoconference with sub-collector, RDO, municipal commissioners and Tahsildars from Collectorate here on Saturday, the collector said that on Friday alone 96 positive cases were reported from the district. The collector called upon people to be alert and strictly follow the guidelines of the government as the virus is spreading rapidly.

For keeping the virus at bay people should cooperate with the administration and strictly maintain social distance and wear masks. They should make it a practice to wash their hands frequently with sanitizer to prevent the virus from spreading, he suggested.

The collector alerted people that there is every possibility of Covid-19 cases spreading to every village and ward.

Joint Collectors K Venkataramana Reddy, Himanshu Shukla, N Tej Bharat and other officials were present.
