Kakinada: The smart city entrances along with identified slum areas require special attention for development, said Agriculture Minister K Kanna Babu. Reviewing the Kakinada Smart City works with concerned engineers and GUDA officials at his camp office here on Friday, the Minister said the entrances leading to the city appearing with filth and garbage which requires immediate attention.

In this connection, the Minister instructed the officials to prepare an action plan for beautification of the four roads leading to city, Samarlakota Road, Nadakuduru Road, Yanam Road and Panduru Road.

On Samarlakota Road, the Minister suggested to take up retaining wall on canal side and development of greenery in the area. The minister also suggested the officials to take up monumental works at town railway station entrance highlighting the importance of Kakinada city.

Regarding slum areas in rural constituency, the minister said that Tarakarama Nagar, Indraplaem, Swami Nagar and other areas require special attention for development.

While reviewing Smart City works, Kanna Babu said all works should be taken up with special attention to quality and there will be no compromise on this.

He suggested for construction of fishing market with modern amenities at Ramanayyapeta. MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar said that drainage system in the city should be streamlined. The MLA also suggested for measures for flow of excess water into boat club to take up boating.

GUDA Secretary Dr R Amarendra Kumara said that steps are being taken to renovate Atchutapuram circle in the city with the support of ONGC. SE Smart city corporation M Pavan Kumar was also present.
