Vijayawada: Former ministers Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao and Kollu Ravindra demanded Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to make a statement on Machilipatnam port in the wake of reports that the government was going to handover it to Telangana government.

Speaking to media here on Thursday, the TDP leaders said that the government had already issued secret GOs to handover the port to Telangana government. They asked the state government to reveal the details of port construction plans to clarify who would construct the port, TS Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao or the AP government.

They recalled that the then chief minister the late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy wanted to shift the port from Machilipatnam. But the people of the district staged protests against the plans of the YSR government. Now his son Jagan Mohan Reddy was also making similar plans to hand over the port to TS government, they said.

The former ministers pointed out that already the machinery related to port construction was shifted from the location after the new government assumed office. Alleging that Jagan wants to give away the port to KCR as part of quid pro quo for the financial help extended by TS Chief Minister during polls, they demanded the government reveal the details of secret GOs to people.

Uma Maheswara Rao asked YSRCP MP V Vijayasai Reddy as to why he did not make comment on Nimmagadda Prasad arrest issue. He said YSRCP MPs requested the Centre to intervene in the issue and extend help to them. He said that Jagan and Vijayasai Reddy were also facing charges in the same Vanpic case.
