Women have a role in Army
The Ministry of Defence’s initiative to induct women soldiers in the Armed forces is an welcome move, So far our defence forces had seen women in the officer’s cadre only,
The Ministry of Defence's initiative to induct women soldiers in the Armed forces is an welcome move, So far our defence forces had seen women in the officer's cadre only, now the induction of women in the Military police as a soldier cadre will not only ensures equal opportunities in the male domain, also it will help the Army to deal with the gender specific requirement like dealing with female offenders during investigations and other occasions.
The MOD in consultation with the Armed Forces has to open up more opportunities to the women candidates in the other cadres too.
To make the next generation women candidate's operationally ready for the combat role and to educate and train in accordance with military requirement, the MOD may explore to establish Military Schools and Colleges like NDA (National Defence Academy) exclusively for girls, which is the need of the hour and absolutely dearth in our country. (In a first Army begins recruitment of women jawans, THI 26 Apr.)
