Awareness drive on water harvesting
A programme to raise awareness on the importance of water harvesting was held here at Venkata Ramana Park on Sunday.
Mallapur: A programme to raise awareness on the importance of water harvesting was held here at Venkata Ramana Park on Sunday. GHMC Zonal Commissioner Srinivas Reddy, local corporator Pannala Devender Reddy, Deputy Commissioner Dasharath and others participated in the programme. Water harvesting pits were established at the park and government school.
Speaking on the occasion, the Zonal Commissioner urged people to save each drop of water keeping in mind future generations. He said that measures were being taken to raise awareness on building water harvesting pits to improve groundwater levels. He asked people to repair percolation pits by changing the sand cover every year to improve percolation of water.
EE Koteshwar Rao, DE Narsing Rao, AE Venu, Dr Maithri, sanitation supervisor, division president Rapolu Satish, ward committee members, TRS leaders, colony residents and others participated in the programme.
