Warangal: Even though the people's focus is on ensuing Lok Sabha elections, for the moment the by-poll of the 19th Division in the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) scheduled to be held on March 25 has assumed local point of interest, which is something prestigious for the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).
It may be mentioned here that by-poll for the 19th Division was necessitated due to the resignation of sitting Corporator and Mayor Nannapuneni Narender, who got elected to the Assembly from Warangal East constituency, recently. A flurry of activity marked the last day of filing nominations with a total of 15 candidates completing the formality on Wednesday.
While four candidates - Manoj Goud, Diddi Nagaraju, T Venu and Sriram Rajesh - filed nominations claiming themselves as ruling TRS party nominees, P Satheesh is the lone candidate from the Congress to file papers.
The others are... Telugu Desam: T Sampath; BJP: Acha Sravan, S Keshava, Y Sreelatha, D Surender and B Shyamsundar; Aam Admi Party: M Chandra Prakash; Independents: B Raju, D Prabhakar and D Srinivas.
While the scrutiny of nominations will take place on Thursday, the candidates will have opportunity to withdraw their papers on Friday. It may be noted here that candidates will have to submit B-Forms on Thursday (March 14).
