Congress Bharat Bachao rally Live Updates: It is a struggle to save India says Sonia Gandhi

The Congress Party has started its 'Bharat Bachao' mega rally in Ramlila Maidan, New Delhi. Massive crowds have gathered to listen to the senior party leaders - Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, P Chidambaram, Dr. Mamohan Singh and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. The rally comes at a time when Jharkhand assembly elections are underway. Congress party leaders have commenced the rally and have started to criticize the BJP government over a range of issues like declining women's safety and economy in the country.

The Gandhi family members started addressing the crowd starting with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who said that India's Constitution would be destroyed if citizens didn't raise their voices and stayed in the darkness of fear and lies. " One who doesn't fight injustice in the country will be judged as a coward. India is a country of love, non-violence, brotherhood. We will be as responsible for this as the arrogant and lying leaders of BJP-RSS," she said.

Addressing the parliament uproar over his "Rape in India" comment, Rahul Gandhi said he would not apologize for stating facts. The leader added that GDP growth of India is at 4 per cent. It would be at 2.5 per cent if it was measured using previous method. He said that PM Modi has set Northeast ablaze, referring to the violent protests that are underway against the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi told people assembled at the Bharat Bachao rally that they would have to struggle hard to "save" India. Stay tuned as we bring you further updates from the rally.
