Guntur: A two-day national-level youth festival, ‘Vignan Mahotsav’ was inaugurated at Viginan University, Vadlamudi in the city on Friday.
Speaking on this occasion, Dronacharya award recipient and Volleyball Association state president, Arikipudi Ramana Rao said that the players should have a national outlook. “The students are in the forefront of education and sports but they are neglecting their health.” He expressed serious concern over youth turning diabetic. He said that the youth active in sports should possess sound health.
Vignan Educational Institutions chairman, Lavu Rattaiah said about 25 per cent of youth suffer from diabetes. A recent survey shed light on the issue and added that sports aid in the reduction of mental stress. The official urged students to take part in the sports meet. Vigan Educational Institutions vice-chairman, Sri Krishnadevarayalu was also present at the meeting.
