Cong-MIM combine dominates GHMC
Hyderabad: Congress-MIM Combine Dominates GHMC, Eight Corporators of the Congress and seven from MIM were elected as Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Standing Committee members on Friday.
Hyderabad: Eight Corporators of the Congress and seven from MIM were elected as Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Standing Committee members on Friday. With this the Congress and MIM combine maintained its control for the fifth consecutive term in GHMC Standing Committee elections. The lucky ones from Congress who got a berth are -- C Sunitha, Mohammed Wajid Hussain, J Satyanarayana, Singireddy Dhanpal Reddy, A Mahesh Yadav, A Krishna, D Anil Singh, J Devanand.

The elected corporators of the MIM were – V Bhanumati, Mir Wajid Ali Khan, MA Gaffar, Abdul Qavi Ansari, Mohsin Bin Abdullah Balala, Md Farooquddin, and Dr Mohd Yousuf. Leaving out D Raja Singh (BJP) and Jaffar Hussain Meeraj (MIM), who got elected as MLAs in the recent Assembly elections, a total of 148 corporators had the chance to utilize their vote. However eight of them, including former mayor Banda Karthika Reddy abstained from voting. Congress Corporator S Dhanpal Reddy from Cherlapally secured the highest number of 123 votes out of the maximum 148 votes.
The number of votes secured by other corporators are – A Mahesh Yadav (123), A Krishna (118), A Krishna (117), C Sunitha (113), Mohammed Wajid Hussain (108), J Satyanarayana (107), Mohsin Bin Abdullah (103), Anil Singh (97), J Devanand (94), Md Farooquddin (92), Mir Wajid Ali Khan (92), MA Gaffar (90), V Bhanumathi (90), Abdul Qavi Ansari (89) and Mohd Yousuf (75). GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar monitored the standing committe election process.
