Hyderabad: To put an end to the imbroglio related to fee reimbursement of Andhra students, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has decided to write to his Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekhar Rao for the resolution of the issue.
The decision was taken at a four hour long Cabinet meeting chaired by Naidu at Lake View guest house here on Thursday. Briefing media, the Information Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy said that Naidu was even ready for talks with KCR on the issue. He said the government was of the opinion that EAMCET counselling should begin immediately lest the students would suffer.
Keeping in tune with the policy of the Central government, Naidu has also decided to integrate MGNREGS programme with agriculture and allied sector. Reddy said the government which had taken about a month to settle down will now move in fast forward mode.
He said the Cabinet had decided involve various agencies including the NGOs in taking energy efficiency measures, particularly in the agricultural sector.
He said already some agencies had come forward to help the government in this area and they would bear the cost of setting up solar based pump sets and encourage them to take energy efficient measures. He said there are about 13 lakh pump sets in the State.
The Cabinet further decided to increase the retirement age of aided teachers to 60 years. The government would also promote 100 per cent drip irrigation measures in Anantapur and upland areas of West Godavari district. The government would bear 90 per cent subsidy in case of small and marginal farmers, 100 percent subsidy in case of SC and ST farmers and 70 per cent subsidy for rich farmers.
Among other decisions taken at the meeting are to set up an oil research centre at Anantapur and construct LNG storage units at Kakinada with the help of oil companies.
This, the Minister said, would help in providing employment to 2000 people. He said the Cabinet had decided to constitute seven missions, Social sector, Primary sector, IT, Infrastructure, Industries, service sector and urban development. These missions are meant to take up developmental activities on a fast track mode.
The Minister said all ports between Srikakulam and Nellore would be upgraded. On the education front, the government would go in for massive changes in syllabus from next academic year. It would also give a boost to water conservation mission, he added.
