Bypoll Campaign Draws to A Close. The high voltage campaign for Medak Lok Sabha in Telangana and Nandigama Assembly bypoll in Andhra Pradesh ended on Thursday evening.

Smooth sailing likely for TRS in Medak, TDP in Nandigama

Hyderabad: The high voltage campaign for Medak Lok Sabha in Telangana and Nandigama Assembly bypoll in Andhra Pradesh ended on Thursday evening.

Polling to both the seats will be held on Saturday.

This being the first by-elections after the two new governments came to power, both the ruling parties have taken it as a prestige issue and spared no efforts to ensure the victory of their candidates. If the mood of the people is any indication, TRS candidate K Prabhakar Reddy would have a smooth sailing in Medak and the TDP candidate T Soumya will romp home without any difficulty. The Medak seat fell vacant following the resignation of K Chandrasekhar Rao who retained his Gajwel Assembly seat after becoming the Chief Minister. KCR had won with a margin of 3.90 lakh votes.

The BJP-TDP combine and the Congress party tried their best to tell the people about how the TRS government even after 100 days was still confining itself to making promises and had thrown governance to the wind. Election to Nandigama Assembly seat was necessitated following the death of the TDP MLA T Prabhakara Rao before he could take oath. He had won with a margin of 5,074 votes.
