Apex Court to hear telecom operations petition today

A writ petition has been filed in the Supreme Court by the Cellular Operators Association of India whether to disclose the data relating to the phone tapping to the AP Government. The AP Government asked the mobile operators to provide data, while the Telangana Government directed them not to provide any data to its AP counterpart.

Caught between the two Governments, the COAI approached the court and filed a petition. The Supreme Court agreed to take up the petition and it is likely to come up for hearing today. The AP Government has given a month's time to nearly a dozen mobile operators to submit their versions.
