Godavari Puhskaram: Massive fire injures 5 at Rajahmundry

In a massive fire that broke out in a hotel in Rajahmundry on Wednesday evening, five persons were injured who had come for the 'Godavari Puhskaram' festival.

The hotel was located near Gokavaram bus stand and the fire spread to nearby shops soon, informed the police. At the time of the mishap, hundreds of people were at the bus station as it is close to Puskhar Ghat which is one of the bathing sites of the ongoing religious festival.

With five persons receiving burn injuries, over half a dozen vehicles were badly damaged. The Police said that the fire tenders put out the blaze that is suspected to have been caused by leakage from a gas cylinder in the hotel.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and DGP J V Ramudu visited the area, supervising the operation and advised the people not to panic. Chandrababu said that the officials have been directed to ensure the injured persons get quick medical attention.
