Pithapuram: A traffic jam was evident on national highway No 216 following heavy turnout of devotees at Padagaya pilgrimage centre. Vehicles remained stranded for more than an hour in the centre's vicinity, a report said here on Tuesday.

However, the situation eased following the intervention of police. Since villagers started thronging the Siva shrine from early hours with heavy vehicles on Kathipudi -Pamarru road the complex situation had arisen. Allowing two-wheelers up to the temple in spite of allotting the parking lots had resulted in the traffic problem.
