​Visakhapatnam: Minister for Human Resource Development Ganta Srinivasa Rao informed that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu would be attending the International Yoga Day on June 21 as chief guest.

Speaking at a meeting with officials, here on Wednesday, the Minister felt that the arrangements for the International Yoga Day and the subsequent celebrations must be different and unique as the Chief Minister would attend.

He said that the Chief Minister will arrive in the city at 6.30 am on June 21 to participate in the yoga event between 7 am and 7.45 am and would address the public on the occasion.

Ganta said that it was decided to conduct the mega event either on the R K Beach Road or at the Port Stadium or at the Swarna Bharati Municipal Indoor Stadium depending upon weather conditions and the venue will be finalised after discussing with the Chief Minister.

Elaborate arrangements are being made to accommodate as many as 6,000 people and 100 master trainers are expected to participate. “The government will soon issue orders making yoga a compulsory subject in all government schools to create awareness among children on the benefits of yoga,” the Minister added.

Collector N Yuvaraj informed that the State government has allocated a sum of Rs 6 lakh for the event and the district administration is coordinating with GVMC, Education department, VUDA, city police and representatives of local Yoga institutes in making arrangements. Joint collector J Nivas and DRDA in-charge PD Maheswara Reddy were also present.
