Later, addressing a media conference, Sunitha said that government is distributing ration to the beneficiaries from 1 to 15 of every month and taking measures to implement the e-POS system in all districts in the State. 

Vijayawada: Civil Supplies Minister Paritala Sunitha warned that stern action would be taken against ration dealers who offer money to the beneficiaries instead of delivering the ration. She said there are allegations that some ration dealers are resorting to irregularities in distribution of ration and offering cash to the ration card holders instead of distributing the ration.

Later, addressing a media conference, Sunitha said that government is distributing ration to the beneficiaries from 1 to 15 of every month and taking measures to implement the e-POS system in all districts in the State.

She said the government is taking measures to deliver ration to the leprosy candidates at their homes under the Mee Intiki scheme and said a survey is being conducted to identify the beneficiaries in the State.

Referring to e-POS system, the Minister said irregularities can be prevented through this system to ensure distribution of rations to all beneficiaries without fail. Referring to ration cards, the Minister the government had received six lakh applications for the sanction of ration cards and identified that 4.45 lakh applicants are eligible to get the white ration cards.

She recalled the government sanctioned 11 lakh ration cards in November 2015 and will sanction more cards to the eligible, if necessary. Sunitha said the government has set the target of sanctioning 30 lakh connections under the Deepam scheme.
