The duration of groundnut crop is 110 days. The crop is supposed to register fairly good growth within the first 21 days and even better growth after 40 days of sowing.

CPI district secretary D Jagadeesh demanded that the Central government's 'Fasal Bima Yojana'(FBY) be applied to groundnut crop as well which is spread in 5.9 lakh hectares in the district. CPI district leaders Jaffer and Narayana Swamy were present.
