Eluru: N Rambabu, Zonal Manager, Bank of Maharashtra has said that the bank is giving top priority for the welfare of farmers.He visited the bank’s Ramachandaraopeta branch in the city on Thursday. After the inspection in the bank, the Zonal Manager told reporters that the bank achieved a turnover of Rs 2.5 lakh crore of which 1.39 lakh crore were deposits and Rs 1.11 lakh crore were loans.

He said the bank had allotted 20 percent of loan amounts to priority sector of agriculture as against the RBI norms of 18 percent crop loans. He said the bank had concentrated on minimising the non-performing assets and took up a special drive to recover the pending arrears.

He said the Bank of Maharashtra had established 47 branches in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States. The bank’s Eluru Branch Manager MS Sarma and others participated in the media conference.
