Hyderabad: As the Southwest Monsoon continues to be weak in Andhra Pradesh, rain occurred at isolated places in East Godavari, Vishakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, West Godavari, Krishna and Srikakulam districts during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Wednesday.
The Met department bulletin listed the chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) as: Chintur (EG) 4, Visakhapatnam, Chodavaram, Chintapalle (all in Vishakhapatnam) 2 each, Cheepurupalle ( Vizianagaram), Visakhapatnam Airport, Koida (WG), Anakapalle (Visakhapatnam), Avanigada (Krishna), Tada (Nellore), Chintalapudi (WG) and Ranastalam (Srikakulam) 1 each.
According to the bulletin, a fresh low pressure area is likely to form over north Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood around July 29, giving scope for rain. An east-¬west shear zone at 7.6 km above the mean sea level runs roughly along Lat 20°N across peninsular India.
The forecast said light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at isolated pIaces in Andhra Pradesh from July 26 to 29. No large change during the period July 30-August 1 is the weather outlook. Meanwhile, the highest day temperatures of 39 degrees Celsius was recorded in Kavali, Nellore, Jangamaheswarapuram and Tirupati.
The other temperatures in the State were:
Bapatla, Ongole 38 each, Machilipatnam, Kadapa, Nandyal 37 each.
