Ongole: The Andhra Pradesh Students JAC organised a Dharma Porata Deeksha here on Friday, demanding that the state government fulfill promises made to the district, just one day before the Dharma Porata Deeksha by the chief minister to demand the Central government to implement AP Reorgansiation Act, in Ongole on Friday.

The Dhamra Porata Deeksha by the Students JAC was supported by several public organizations including the political parties.

Chunduru Rangarao of the Prakasam District Development Forum demanded that the state government write a letter to the Central government agreeing to construct the port at Ramayapatnam, which is the only feasible place announced by several agencies.

He demanded that the port and ship building center should be built by the Union government only.

Battula Brahmananda Reddy of YSRCP said that it was only agitation that could bring the university to the district. Ida Sudhakar Reddy, district Congress committee president advised the students to not fall for the sweet words of the chief minister and continue the protest.

CPI and CPM leaders P Anjaneyulu and ML Narayana said that if university was established in the district, thousands of the students from backward classes would be benefitted with it.

They demanded that the government fulfill all promises made to the district immediately.

Rayapati Jagadeesh, president of the AP Students JAC said that they took the agitation path as the last option after trying to convince the government in different ways.

He demanded that the government fulfill all promises made to the district including setting up of various institutions, university, Ramayapatnam port, industries etc.

He asked the government to change its mind as the establishment of IIIT at Pamur would not help the students and damage its chances of development.

He demanded that the government establish the IIIT in Ongole only.

The Students JAC leaders announced that they organize similar Dharma Porata Deeksha in all Assembly constituencies and educate the people to join the agitation for their children.
