Kakinada: BJP official spokesperson Tummala Padmaja on Thursday alleged that large-scale misuse of funds took place in housing scheme sanctioned by Central government to the poor in East Godavari district.
Speaking to media persons here, she alleged that TDP MLAs had cornered the benefits intended for the poor.
Elaborating on the issue, she said that the ruling TDP completely misusing the housing scheme meant for the poor.
She alleged that in total 10,000 houses were allotted under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for Kakinada city. A total one lakh houses were sanctioned for the district and none of those reached the needy poor, she alleged.
She also said that the other government schemes such as Neeru-Chettu and Vanam- Manam were also misused by TDP leaders and their supporters in the district.
Padmaja demanded that the state government release a white paper on the allocation of housing units under this scheme.
BJP district unit president Y Malakondayya who also spoke o this occasion, challenged the TDP leaders to come for debate on the issue.
“I will prove the graft with full details,” he challenged the TDP leaders.
