Ongole: The YSR Congress Party has alleged that the Commissioner and officials in the Ongole Municipal Corporation are involved in corruption, by calling tenders for already completed works.
The YSRCP leaders complained to the Collector and vigilance officials to probe on their complaint and save lakhs of rupees of public money.
Speaking to the media on Friday, the YSRCP Ongole town president, Singaraju Venkatarao said that the municipal corporation had called for the tenders for constructing drains from Magunta Subbarami Reddy statue to the Samaikyata Nagar on Thursday.
He also mentioned that the tenders were called for the drains from Samaikyata Nagar to Uracheruvu and SC Hostel to Kapu Kalyanamandapam.
He questioned that as the drains were constructed three months ago, how come they were inviting tenders again.
He wanted to know that whether the works were done without calling a tender or the municipal officials were trying to make money by calling tenders again.
He also alleged that to provide the works on nomination, the officials were breaking the works into pieces of value below Rs 10 lakh and looting the public money by cooperating with the contractors and politicians.
The YSRCP leaders Kuppam Prasad, R Anji Reddy, D Anji Reddy, Ashok Reddy, Obul Reddy, Bheemesh and others also participated in the meeting.
