Road accident deaths decline in Krishna district
Road accident deaths come down by 10 percent in Krishna district in this year from January to October compared to the same period in the previous year
Vijayawada: Road accident deaths come down by 10 percent in Krishna district in this year from January to October compared to the same period in the previous year. A total of 2127 accidents took place in Krishna district and 547 persons lost their lives in the mishaps from January to October, 2018.
Last year, 615 persons died in road accidents and 2250 mishaps took place from January to October, 2017. There is a decline of mishaps and deaths due to awareness programmes being conducted by the police, transport department and NGOs.
The district Collector B Lakshmikantham on Tuesday conducted a review meeting with the officials of various departments on the road safety. Officials from police, transport, National Highways, R and B others attended the review meeting at the Collector’s camp office.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said the district administration is trying to implement Supreme Court guidelines on wearing helmet to prevent deaths in road accidents.
He said the number of deaths in the road accidents decreased by 68 this year compared to the previous year and the police and transport department officials are booking cases for violation of road safety rules and collecting penalty.
