Yanamala Ramakrishnudu slams YSRCP for running away from House
Finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, thanking the members of the Assembly here on Friday for passing the Appropriation Bill19 and 20, said that in spite of the financial crunch, the state was spending huge amounts on welfare schemes
Amaravati: Finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, thanking the members of the Assembly here on Friday for passing the Appropriation Bill-19 and -20, said that in spite of the financial crunch, the state was spending huge amounts on welfare schemes.
Earlier, both the Appropriation Bills were passed by the House with voice vote. Ramakrishnudu came down heavily on the Opposition YSR Congress Party for keeping itself away from the Assembly. He said that the opposition party should talk on behalf of people by questioning the Treasury benches at every step.
“I have never come across such runaway opposition in my 35-year-long political career,” he said. He wished people would understand that it was sheer waste to vote for such people.
Referring to the demand of YSR Congress to disqualify the defected MLAs, the opposition leader did not know the Constitutional provisions that the Speaker should not be forced to take a decision. The Opposition leaders appear to consider the Lotus Pond as the Assembly, he quipped.
Narrating the achievements of the state government despite the resource crunch, he said that Godavari water was diverted through Pattiseema lift irrigation scheme and Rayalaseema had turned into lush green with Krishna water.
Referring to the demand by Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Rammohan to consider the payment of salaries of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation employees from 101 Account, the finance minister said that all the municipalities in the state were brought under 101 Account in the past except the two municipal corporations of Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.
He said that there had been misuse of funds in the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation in the past. However, the decision on implementation of 101 Account to pay salaries of the municipal staff of the two corporations would be discussed.
The Chief Minister keeps on increasing his demands for implementing several welfare schemes, he said. The state was paying unemployment dole to 4 lakh youth. “We have to strive to bring down the inequalities in the society,” he added. Spewing fire at the Centre, Yanamala said that the Centre had nothing to do with the affairs of the state.
“It can’t dictate terms on what to do and what not to do,” he said. “GST Council has become a puppet in the hands of the Prime Minister. If there are elections in Gujarat, certain exemptions would be given in the GST favouring that state,” he said.
