Chess players given cash prize in Vijayawada
The SRR Charitable Trust, in association with Krishna District Chess Association, gave prize money to P Supriya and S Swathi on Tuesday, on getting selected to the National Chess Championship
Vijayawada: The SRR Charitable Trust, in association with Krishna District Chess Association, gave prize money to P Supriya and S Swathi on Tuesday, on getting selected to the National Chess Championship.
The trust members gave Rs 5,000 to Supriya and Rs 1000 to Swathi. The players were selected after winning the tournament held at Srikakulam on February 23 and 24.
Speaking on the occasion, District Chess Association Secretary D Srihari thanked the charitable trust in the district for giving prize money and encouraging the players.
He said that the association will be ever grateful to the trusts which were helping the players.
Trust president D Varalakshmi said that henceforth prize money will be given to the players who get selected for the nationals.
The players will be given Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 each respectively, he added.
