Tirupati: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy observed ‘Jala Deeksha’ in Rayala Cheruvu, a natural water body, of RC Puram mandal in Chittoor district on Thursday in protest against the Congress Working Committee (CWC)’s division on State division.
Some of his supporters also took part in the protest and raised slogans against UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and TRS Chief K Chandrasekhar Rao. Chevireddy demanded immediate rollback of the CWC’s decision on Telangana and to make a detailed announcement on the unified State.
Speaking to The Hans India, he said despite a series of protests across the Seemandhra region opposing the decision of CWC, neither the Prime Minister nor the senior leaders of Congress party have responded so far. Equal justice to all regions is the need of the hour in the case of the State’s division, he added. He found fault with Sonia Gandhi for her silence over the ongoing disturbances in Seemandhra districts for an integrated State.
She should have thought about the equal justice to Seemandhra region while taking the decision on Telangana issue, he pointed. “Whatever the reasons may be, the Central government should not divide the State without resolving water, power, employees and other key issues and without answering the apprehensins of the people in the region,’’ the YSRC leader.
