Police Nab 3 in Chandana Brothers Robbery Case. The Central Crime Station (CCS) police, Kukatpally on Thursday solved the sensational Chandana Brothers robbery case by arresting two inter-State notorious burglars after their alleged involvement in decamping gold from the show room’s Kukatpally branch on August 7.

Hyderabad: The Central Crime Station (CCS) police, Kukatpally on Thursday solved the sensational Chandana Brothers robbery case by arresting two inter-State notorious burglars after their alleged involvement in decamping gold from the show room’s Kukatpally branch on August 7. About 45 tolas of gold worth Rs 12.5 lakh and a cash of Rs 5.2 lakh has been recovered from their possession.

The accused Katta Shiva Shankar alias Laddu, 26, a native of East Godavari of AP and Macheroju Lalitha, 45 and Katta Sathi Babu, 24, a native of Kakinada of AP were apprehended on Thursday around 6 am by police near Malabar gold shop in Kukatpally while they were planning to dispose of the stolen property.

“Shiva Kumar, an ex-convict, who migrated from East Godavari to Hyderabad, has 12 house breaking cases under various police station limits in the TS and AP States. The second accused, Satti Babu, cousin of Shiva Kumar, also an ex-convict has been committing property offences since 2006 along with Shiva. On May 26, both managed to escape from police escort which took place at Kakinada bus stop while proceeding to Visakhapatnam Central Jail after attending the court at RC Puram,” Additional DCP (Crimes) G Janaki Sharmila said.

Explaining the modus operandi of the house breakers, she said they would take rooms separately in the city and plan accordingly.

They would purchase SIM cards with fake IDs and as per their adopted modus operandi they visit shops and malls posing themselves as genuine customers and conduct a recce. They would later enter the targeted shops or malls and break open the locks with the help of crowbars and hammers. Later, they would equally distribute the looted booty among themselves,” she added.

Acting on a tip-off, the CCS sleuths nabbed the duo and based on their instance, three receivers – Sorampudi Satyanarayana, 50, Katta Laxmi, 40 and Chellaboina Varalakshmi, 33, all residents of Old Alwal were also taken into police custody.
