Karimnagar: Bejjanki police have arrested two youths for sexually abusing and cheating two minor girls in the name of love. The accused, Inkurthi Kiran and Ponnala Srikanth, sexually abused the girls by promising to marry them. The duo was booked under Nirbhaya Act, SC, ST Atrocities Act and Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

According to police, two 17-year-old girls were staying alone in their houses in Budigajangala Colony of Ganneruvaram village of Bejjenki mandal as their parents migrated to Jharkhand state in the search of employment. Taking it as an advantage, Kiran and Srikanth, who were working in a sand quarry, developed friendship with the girls and they have been moving freely with them during the last six months.

While Kiran abused a girl by promising that he would marry her, Srikanth sexually exploited the other girl. Both the girls became pregnant two months ago. The girls informed the matter to their lovers who took them to a private hospital promising medicine for the growth of infants. But, they got abortion after consuming the pills.

The youths misguided the girls when they grilled about the pills and refused to marry. Realising that they were cheated by the youths, the girls informed the matter to their parents who came to the village and lodged complaint with the police on Wednesday.

Bejjenki Sub-Inspector B Koteshwar said that based on the parents’ complaints, they registered cases under Nirbhaya, SC,ST Atrocities Act and POCSO Act against the youth and sent the girls for medical examination. Though they were lovers, law would not accept to have sex with minors. Both the accused were arrested, the S-I said.
