7 Nigerians held for peddling cocaine worth 4 lakh

The Task Force police on Wednesday busted an international drug racket and arrested seven Nigerians. They seized 73 grams of cocaine and 5 grams of brown sugar, worth Rs 4 lakh, from the possession of the accused.
Hyderabad: The Task Force police on Wednesday busted an international drug racket and arrested seven Nigerians. They seized 73 grams of cocaine and 5 grams of brown sugar, worth Rs 4 lakh, from the possession of the accused.
The West Zone Team of Task Force, which was assisted by members of Anti Narcotics Cell (CCS), nabbed the accused when they were about to deliver the contraband to clients.
The accused were identified as Ejeana Raphael Chidera, 36, resident of Goa, Chrisval Akuabata, 32, resident of Mumbai, Ugochukwu Solomon Ubabuko, 29, resident of Goa, Obiora Chukwuemeka Peter, 23, resident of Goa, Okorie Samson Chukwuebuka, 23, resident of Prasanth Nagar (Bandlaguda), RR district, Ezeh Christian Chuku, 35, resident of Sainikpuri, Hyderabad and Uzor Promise Chukuwudi, 32, resident of Mini Gulshan Colony, 7 Tombs, Tolichowki.
After entering India on business VISA, all the accused became part of a bigger network existing in Goa and started supplying narcotics in most of the metropolitan cities. The prime accused Ejeana Raphael Chidera is the kingpin of racket and runs the business with his associates and agents.
He supplied cocaine for Rs 2,800 per gram. The local drug peddlers of the cities developed contacts with potential customers and started selling the same between Rs 5000 and Rs 6000 to potential clients.
Along with Chidera, two of his accomplices Akuabata and Ubabuko kept in touch with Chukwuebuka and Chuku who were residing in the city.
Peter visited the city and personally delivered the substance to the duo residing in Hyderabad on commission basis. “We are investigating to find if any other networks are active in the city,” said B Limba Reddy, DCP, Commissioner’s Task Force.
According to DCP, the police teams started working out over the available leads for the past few days by keeping surveillance over the suspected drug addicts at colleges, pubs and hotels, which led to the collection of actionable intelligence.
“A trap was laid and the accused were apprehended while they were selling the cocaine near RTC bus stop at Humayun Nagar,” the official added.
