Visakhapatnam/Amaravati: Six persons were killed and 27 others were injured in two road mishaps in Visakhapatnam and Guntur districts in the State on Wednesday.Three persons died on the spot and another 12 sustained serious injuries, when the jeep in which they were travelling hit a roadside tree on the ghat road at Vanjiri village in the Agency area of G Madugula mandal in Visakhapatnam district on Wednesday.

The jeep driver was among the three killed.G Madugula Circle Inspector K Srinivasa Rao said in all 15 persons were travelling to G Madugula from Dhimili village in the jeep when the accident took place.

The injured were admitted to the King George Hospital in the city. The CI said the condition of three of the injured was critical.In another accident in Guntur district, three passengers were killed and 15 others were injured, when a private travels bus in which they were travelling hit a stationary lorry near Piduguralla on the wee hours of Wednesday.

According to Sub-Inspector V Ravindrababu, the private travels bus was carrying 36 passengers from Hyderabad to Nellore when it hit the stationary lorry near Pidiguralla.

A passenger Kameswara-mma (65) died on the spot in the mishap. Her elder sister Ankamma (70) and another passenger Aadiseshaiah (45) died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

While, Kameswaramma and Ankamma belonged to Nellore, Aadiseshaiah was a native of Ongole. Fifteen other passengers were injured and they have been shifted to the government hospital in Narasarao-pet.

Ravindrababu said, "The bus driver fell asleep for a few moments, which led to accident. After completion of investigation, we can tell exact details.” The bus driver is absconding.
