Groom kills self 2 hrs before wedding

Tenali (Guntur): A groom gave a shock to the invitees of his wedding when he committed suicide by hanging at the venue just two hours before tying the knot on Monday. The guests present at the marriage venue in Indira Nagar Colony of Tenali town are puzzled over the sudden death.

According to reports, Kondapalli Surendra of the colony was to marry Sujatha of Uppalapadu for the 10:40 am muhurtam. Everybody was in a jubilant mood amid ambience of celebration when the suicide by Surendra filled grief in the families. A pall of gloom descended on the marriage venue. The relatives who were busy with arrangements dipped into grief. A few of them tried to know the reasons for the groom resorting to suicide.

Annapurnamma, mother of the groom, was weeping inconsolably as the sudden development was difficult to cope with. She wondered as to why her son committed suicide at the last minute while he was happy in the morning and even actively took part in making arrangements for the guests.

The police did not reveal the reasons for the suicide as the victim's family chose to keep the matter under wraps. Circle Inspector Mahabub Basha said reasons for the victim resorting to the extreme step would be known after investigation.
