Indian Women’s Network (IWN), a CII initiative celebrated its annual day on Saturday by focusing on the theme ‘Career Women – The Potential, The Progress and the Future of Emerging Economies’ . CII had launched the IWN and is an all women initiative for the working women who want to know how to enrich and pursue higher education, knowledge, skill and opportunities.

Justice G Rohini, High Court of AP & chairperson, AP Judicial Academy, was the chief guest for the annual day. She released a handbook on women and human rights on the occasion. Giving importance to the rights of the working women she said, “The Constitution of India empowers the state to make special provisions for promoting the welfare of women and to eliminate inequalities in status, facilities and opportunities. One of the serious contemporary problems being faced by women in India is personal security and safety.
Working women are vulnerable to violence in one form or the other. It creates a hostile and insecure work environment which discourages women participation in work thereby effecting their social and economic environment and inclusive growth. To address the same, the Supreme Court of India had laid down the guidelines for The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. The Act defines sexual harassment at the work place and creates a mechanism for redressal of complaints. The handbook would be helpful to the working women to know their legal rights and remedies.”
