As part of creating awareness for correct usage of social media, an awareness programme was organised for students of St Ann’s Women’s College at its premises in Secunderabad on Wednesday.

As part of creating awareness for correct usage of social media, an awareness programme was organised for students of St Ann’s Women’s College at its premises in Secunderabad on Wednesday.

Speakers at the awareness programme, which was held under the aegis of The Hans India and HMTV, opined that whiling away time in front of a computer has its own disadvantages besides the benefits.

Social media expert, Madhava Reddy informed, “Over 90 per cent of people use Facebook only to read messages posted on it, while eight per cent pass on the postings their account has received to others. The reaming few actually post messages.”

The programme dwelt on positive aspects of Facebook, Twitter and other social media website in which students got their doubts cleared from experts.

Later, the speakers underlined the need for conserving water for the benefit of posterity. Students took an oath that they will conserve water hereafter.

College Administration Dean Meena Patang, staff and others were present at the programme.
