The City police made elaborate arrangements for the Bonalu procession of Lal Darwaza, which passes through areas of Charminar, Mirchowk and Falaknuma areas under the Old City on Monday. The City police commissioner M Mahender Reddy examined the arrangements after visiting Akkanna-Madanna and other temples in the area. He informed that 3000 policemen were deployed in the area for ensuring the festivity concludes peacefully.

Hyderabad: The City police made elaborate arrangements for the Bonalu procession of Lal Darwaza, which passes through areas of Charminar, Mirchowk and Falaknuma areas under the Old City on Monday. The City police commissioner M Mahender Reddy examined the arrangements after visiting Akkanna-Madanna and other temples in the area. He informed that 3000 policemen were deployed in the area for ensuring the festivity concludes peacefully.


The police force including RAF, CRPF, TSSP are deployed for Old City Bonalu procession. Mahankali (Bonalu) festivities are performed in about 282 temples in the South Zone (Old City). In these 19 prominent temples come under the police stations of Chatrinaka (6), Moghalpura (9), Mirchowk (2), Hussaini Alam (1) and Shahalibanda (1).


According to police officials, 30 CCTV cameras are installed at all important temples to watch and record movements of anti-social elements. While 20 mobile camera teams are deployed, several other forces and patrolling vehicles will be pressed into service. The police also set up 75 pickets at sensitive areas. “If anybody found to be involved in any sort of violence, he will not be spared”, warned, Deputy Commisioner of Police South Zone V Satyanarayana.
