With an objective to strengthen human relationships and make sure women get an equal place in society, City- based Dr Surya Prakash, has started a 70 day program to make people aware about various issues faced by people. He started an NGO called Life-Health Reinforcement Group (Life-HRG) in 1999 to protect life and promote health.

“This year we are celebrating the 70th Independence Day and till today many people have no food and basic facilities. We (L-HRG) decided to do something for the society, and started a 70 day initiative on June 5 which was concluded on August 13. Through these days, various topics like Environment, Suicide, Education, Spirituality, History, Theatre, Indian Constitution, Biodiversity, Domestic Violence, Food, Life, Health, Alcohol, Compassion and many more were discussed,” said Dr Vinjamuri Surya Prakash, who quit his career as a doctor for social work.

The main objectives of this programme is; listening to initiatives and interventions from individuals representing different sectors of the society and sharing their work on women’s health, sharing importance of retaining uterus. It is also a forum to raise questions, find answers, identify problems, seek solutions, recognise individual strengths and commit ourselves to the task of nation-building in our own capacities.

“We started an activity ‘Andaru Bagundali Mana Vonthuna’ (ABMV) for the year 2017 and 2018. This statement is echoed by the participants of the seventy days event of 2016, an event that is a tribute to the sacrifices made by our forefathers for us to celebrate freedom. The principle aim of ABMV is to protect and promote women’s health. ABMV doesn’t glorify individual or an organisation, but both the individual and the organisation come together and share their resources to make sure the roots are strengthened,” adds Dr Surya Prakash.

“We decided to make people aware about every aspect of woman’s health and we welcome anybody to come forward and join us and share their knowledge with us. The 70 day initiative was made possible due to the contributions from various institutes such as Aambana (Kukatpally), Veera Machineni Padagayya High School (Seethaphalmandi), Spreading Light Books of Tarnaka, People’s Library, L-HRG in Kothapet, Hyderabad and Bengaluru,” shares Surya Prakash. “We don’t know tomorrow and we cannot change yesterday, all we have to do is some good work today,” concludes Dr Surya Prakash.
