Osmania University: Banaras Hindu University Professor Dinabandu Pande said here on Friday there is a need to protect ancient temples which serve as centres of education and culture.

Delivering the keynote address at a two-day national seminar on ‘Temple culture in Telangana, a historical perspective’ organised by the OU Department of History in coordination with UGC-DRS in Arts College, he dwelt at length on the traditional temples’ vastu and the Telangana temples’ architecture. He pointed out that people’s way of life was linked to temples.

Former history professor of Andhra university M Krishna Kumari explained the speciality of the Telangana Shaiva and Vaishnava temples during the ancient and Medeival periods.
Osmania University OSD Prof. T Krishna Rao elaborated on Telangana ‘grama devatalu’ and speciality of temples. Arts College principal Prof D Ravinder presided. Director of the seminar Prof K Arjun Rao explained the aims and objectives.

Historians, temple movement leaders, research scholars and professors from UP, Karnataka, Tamil NBadu, AP, Puducherry, Odisha are attending the seminar. Among those present were Dr G Anjayya, Dr S Anjaiah, Dr P Ramesh, Dr P Aruna.
