Madhapur: Construction activity in and around Madhapur is going on at brisk pace but builders are turning a blind eye to safety norms. Workers are seen precariously standing on bamboo railings even as high as 20 feet without safety gear. In a recent incident, a case was booked against PVSN Raju, builder K Rajesh, architect Suresh Kumar and structural engineer Satyaprakash at Madhapur Police Station.

When locals protested against the lack of safety measures and questioned how building permits were issued, the GHMC Zonal Commissioner, West Zone Hari Chandana took immediate action on the builders and architects. The official tweeted “Case booked at Madhapur PS against the constructing builders and the team. Also GHMC town planning notice served in compliance to minister's directions. Land is also being filled up.” The building construction work was started by excavating the building cellar without taking safety measurements and precautions. Precautions for safe barricading all around the proposed construction work, providing of caution board and strengthen of excavated earth side while excavating the cellar were not in place.

Recently, Madhapur official Assistant City Planner KMR Hari observed during the rounds of inspection that after obtaining the building permission the builders, architects, managing partner of the building started the construction work without any safety measurements and precautions. After which, legal action is taken against them and the case been booked against them. According to GHMC Act, 1995 before the commencement of construction work, all safety measurements ought to be taken.

Later, after this the official immediately gave instructions to the Madhapur section officer to stop the excavation of cellar work and now the construction work is banned till September 30. The official also insisted the builders to take necessary safety measurements and precautions to avoid untoward incidents keeping view of public lives. The concerned section officer went to the site under reference and stopped the excavation work and insisted the builder to barricade all round cellars to avoid incidents.
