Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) Returning Officer P Vittal conducted a workshop for presiding and polling officers on Monday at board’s office. More than 500 personnel who have been allotted polling duty in two shifts on January 11 attended the workshop.

Officers were briefed and were given a practical demonstration on the functioning of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). A handbook on EVMs was given to the attendees. The polling staff gained hands on experience on the electioneering process in the model polling stations. Special facility will be extended to senior citizens and women to exercise their franchise.

“We have completed installing 187 model polling stations spread over 18 routes with EVM facilities, ballot papers and polls symbols for 114 candidates. Few wards which have more than 16 candidates will have two EVMs in each polling booth. Four poling officers have been deployed and there will be an additional staff of 1,000 personnel to conduct elections.
