lakahEluru: More than one lakh devotees are expected to participate in Ammavarla `jatara' scheduled to be held at Bhimadole in West Godavari district on March 17. This was conveyed to District Collector Dr Vani Mohan by the festival committee at Collectorate on Monday. Responding to the request of the committee to take appropriate steps for successful conduct of the event, the Collector instructed the officials to ensure supply of drinking water, uninterrupted electricity supply and foolproof security measures for the visiting devotees. She responded positively to the invitation of the committee. She would try to make her presence after meeting the protocol during the tour of State Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy also scheduled for March 17. The `jatara' festival of Ganganamma Mahalakshmi will follow a huge procession on March 18, they informed the Collector. Among the committee representatives who met the Collector include Dattada Srinivasa Raju, Y Sambhaji Rao, V Satya Sai, Dr Murali, Kannam Bhaskara Rao, Y Satyanarayana and Prasad Babu. The committee representatives also conveyed their thanks to Minister Vatti Vasantha Kumar and MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao for their cooperation for the festival.
