Telangana-Seemandhra rift, a creation of Cong: Sharmila

Kaikalur: Sharmila, YSR Congress Party leader, alleged here on Thursday that the Congress party had created a rift between the people of Telangana and Seemandhra regions in order to pave way for making AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister. The Congress had done ‘injustice’ to crores of Seemandhra people, she stated while addressing a meeting here during her ‘Samaikya Sankaravam’ Bus Yatra.

Sharmila claimed that there was no reaction from Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu to the Seemandhra agitation. She blamed him for giving a ‘blank cheque’ to the State’s division. While the TDP and four other parties had endorsed division of the State, the YSRCP and two parties did not agree to the proposal. She wanted Naidu to realize his ‘mistake’, withdraw the party’s letter on Telangana given to the Centre, and apologise to the people.

Sharmila demanded resignation of Naidu and other TDP leaders. She called upon the people not to allow Naidu and other leaders to move in Seemandhra until they quit. Sharmila said that her father, Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, had striven to keep the State united. The YSRCP leader quoted Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as having said that the present situation in the State would not have arisen in the first place had YSR been alive.
