Amaravati: With the present DGP of Andhra Pradesh Malakondaiah set to retire by June 30, the government is scouting for the new DGP. There appears to be serious contest between two senior cops.

Vijayawada police commissioner Gowtham Sawang and Anti-Corruption Bureau director general RP Thakur are in the race. The Government has already constituted a three-member committee to select the next DGP.

The committee comprises incharge chief secretary AC Punetha, Manmohan Singh, GAD secretary Srikanth and Sambasiva Rao. The committee has been asked to submit a top-3 list to the Government by Friday.
