After the dissolution of Telangana assembly on Thursday, the Election Commission (EC) has called on meeting on Friday to discuss over advancing the elections in the state. In the meeting, the EC will decide whether to hold the elections in the state immediately or along with the four other states like Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. However, the decision might be taken after scrutinising all the aspects by EC.
After analysing the aspects like festivals and examinations in the state, the EC will take a decision on holding the elections, said a senior officer of Election Commission.
The TRS government has dissolved the assembly eight months before the election date in June 2019. A cabinet resolution was also submitted to the governor ESL Narasimhan who accepted it and asked the chief minister KCR to continue as caretaker CM.
