MYSURU: A local resident Puttaswamy who was among the three cooks who had prepared the food, that was being served to the devotees. Has sadly lost his daughter Nalini who was 12-years-old who died after eating it.

Puttaswamy said he had tasted the food before it was served. "There was a strange smell. But I was fine after eating it, but my daughter died," he said. Nalini is a class 6 student in a local school.

Shantharaju, 42, is a resident of the Bidarahalli village, and married Sivagami 12 years ago. Both are daily wage labourers. As they didn't conceive kids all these years, they had vowed to visit the temple if they finally have one.

On Friday, he arrived at the temple with his two month-old baby. As the infant was crying, his wife was not able to take the food and prasadam. As soon as Shantharaju ate it, he had collapsed within few minutes in front of the temple and died.

Samidore, 38, didn’t have any children for eight years after his marriage. He came to the temple to make a vow but things turned out to be bad for him.

His wife Mangamma, who is a daily wage worker in a mine who resides at Matli village of Chamarajanagar district, said that, “As we didn’t have children even after eight years, for the past two years my husband has been coming to this temple.

On Friday morning he went to the temple and in the afternoon I received a call that my husband was among those who suffered food poisoning. I immediately rushed to hospital. I don’t want any children; I just want my husband to be cured and come back home.” She added that three of her relatives had also died in the incident.
