Mahbubnagar: Congress President Sonia Gandhi has taken into consideration sacrifices made by the Telangana people and conceded their demand to carve out separate Telangana State, said Information and Public Relations Minister D K Aruna.
Thanking Sonia Gandhi for the favourable decision, Aruna addressed a huge meeting in the town to convey people’s gratitude to the Congress party. The meeting was organized by the District Congress Committee. She stressed that Sonia Gandhi had taken the decision only after consulting all parties and there was no question of going back on the assurance. She said that the Congress high command was making it clear to Seemandhra leaders that Telangana State process would not be given up and was trying to assuage their feelings, while assuring justice to all.
Aruna urged the people against entertaining any apprehensions on the Telangana issue and said that the Antony Committee was set up only to elicit opinions and allay fears, if any, of the leaders from Seemandhra region. She expressed hope that the Telangana State would become a reality by 2014 and next elections would be held only in the new State. As it has been more than 25 since the Congress Working Committee announced the move to create Telangana State, there are some fears among the people that the process may get delayed further. Ruling them out as baseless, she said that a delegation of Telangana Congress leaders would soon call on Sonia Gandhi and the AICC General Secretary In-Charge of Andhra Pradesh, Digvijay Singh, and urge them to expedite the process.

A large number of representatives of teachers, employees unions took part in the rally and later attended the meeting. She was all praise for the presence of a large number of employee, teachers and political leaders at the meeting. Students and Telangana supporters also attended the meeting in large numbers.
At the meeting, MLC Jagadeeshwar Reddy mooted a resolution by political parties, teachers, employees and other unions, calling upon the Congress-led UPA government to table Telangana State bill in Parliament at the earliest. The meeting unanimously passed the resolution.
DCC President Obedullah Kotwal, former Minister Chittaranjan Das, former MP D Vital Rao, PRTU President Venkat Reddy, TRTU President Harshavardhan Reddy, District Telangana JAC President Rajender Reddy and other union leaders were present at the meeting.
