Hyderabad: Union Minister for Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu said that the new Land Acquisition Act will enable the farmers to be part of the development process.

Speaking here on Monday along with Telangana State BJP President Kishan Reddy, he said that the new act has been brought after consulting all the states and UTs. “The UPA government brought the previous version of the bill only for their political gains. Even the senior Congress leader Anand Sharma wrote a letter to then PM saying ‘if the proper changes were not made in the bill, it could be a major obstacle for the development process’, he said.

To achieve the goal of ‘House for All’, there is a need of huge land. With the previous version of the bill projects worth of Rs. 4 Lakh Crores stalled, added Union Minister. We welcome constructive discussion on the ordinance at the same time, we request the opposition to extend their co-operation in passing this bill in Rajya Sabha, he said.

He expressed confidence of passing the bill in the coming session of the parliament session. The new Land Acquisition bill will compensate land lost farmers in a fair manner and there is no need to spread lies on this, he added.
