Hyderabad Hotshots are the winners of the first Indian Badminton League. In a thrilling final they defeated the fighting Awadhe Warriors 3-1. Hyderabad Hotshots began their campaign on a disastrous note when S Tanongsak lost in Opening men’s singles to K Srikanth 12-21, 20-21. However, Hyderbad’s Icon player Saina Nehwal gave yet another masterly demonstration while whipping the Warriors Icon players PV Sindhu 21-15, 21-17 to draw level.

Hyderabad Hotshots are the winners of the first Indian Badminton League. In a thrilling final they defeated the fighting Awadhe Warriors 3-1. Hyderabad Hotshots began their campaign on a disastrous note when S Tanongsak lost in Opening men’s singles to K Srikanth 12-21, 20-21. However, Hyderbad’s Icon player Saina Nehwal gave yet another masterly demonstration while whipping the Warriors Icon players PV Sindhu 21-15, 21-17 to draw level.
In the men’s doubles the formidable combination of Goh and Lim gave hotshots a 2-1 lead. In the reverse singles, RMV Gursaidutt raised hopes of making a comeback when he took the first game 21-17 against Ajay Jayram. However, Jayram who has been in impressive form took the next two games to give the hotshots a permanent place in IBL history.
Immediately afterwards the crowds went into a frenzy and the hotshot players danced on the court. The winning effort made Hyderabad Hotshots richer by 3.5 crores. Later, Exuberating excitement and happiness Saina Nehwal said, “I would like to thank my fans who have supported me all through. Sindhu played really well and gave her best but I managed to outwit her. I have been really lucky during the entire League that I won all my matches. I am happy to have won this match and hope my team wins the League.” “Congratulations to hotshots they deserve it. Happy to finish off the finals in this manner is a big boost to badminton. I hope Saina will continue the same form.” Gopichand said.
