With every episode, Hina Khan continues to nail her 360-degree image reversal; the erstwhile “favourite bahu of India” has succeeded in getting herself hated by one and by all – exempting a couple of dedicated Twitter handles and Instagram Fan Club pages. The actress had made her stance clear from the very beginning. Bored of the sati-savitri identity that her long-running serial, ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ had endowed upon her, Hina, craving a change in people’s perception of her, entered ‘Bigg Boss 11’ with her eye on the prize - an image makeover if not the ultimate title.

And we have witnessed her donning the vamp hat with glory, being coarse with inmates, flinging derogatory remarks on actors in and outside the Bigg Boss house, she has taken impudence to a whole new level, and interestingly it has all worked in her favour. Despite the social media outrage, she made it to the 14th week and is the only female contestant left, apart from Shilpa Shinde, who has amassed huge fan-following on account of her amiable nature. While the popular notion suggests Shilpa to be the winner, Hina has run a long race too which shows, our girl knows her game.

Recollecting the legacy of the show, it’s safe to say, stay off the baddies in the house and the memory of noisemakers in the minds have always outlived that of an average inmate because the audience thrives on drama. You ask for more drama, Colors serves you with Rakhi Sawant. She commenced her ‘Bigg Boss’ journey underscoring the word hullabaloo as her sole mantra and living by it throughout her stay. The item girl, who never leaves a stone unturned to be in news, spread herself thin creating some of the most unwarranted and unsavoury scenes in the ‘Bigg Boss’ house – all in the ‘quintessential’ Rakhi style.

Akashdeep Saigal, a contestant in season 5, was again one of the unusual noisemakers. Not only was he ill-behaved, in the course of his stay he managed to pick a bone with ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ too. His ugly spat with the superstar host of the show certainly brought him prominence inside the house and press outside, his career, however, spiralled downward since then.

The cheap gimmick of being a loudmouth was adopted by Dolly Bindra also. Her bickering personality had become synonymous with fights and disputes. She channelled all her unpopular opinions in a high pitch voice that would not only create a terror in the house but send all inmates to reach for aspirins. But seven seasons hence, if anyone is asked to name one contestant from season 4, Dolly’s name emerges in a heartbeat.

Oh well, another name that strikes us from the same season is that of Raja Chaudhury, who was joined by his estranged wife Shweta Tiwari, who later went on to be the winner. Fans of the ‘Kasauti Zindagi Kay’ actress could see through the reasons leading to her failed marriage after her Bhojpuri ex-husband’s arrogance and hostility, owing to which he lasted in our memory, turned palpable on the television screen.

The next noisemaker, who not only instigated some of the deafening fights in the house but also provided for a much needed romantic angle was Armaan Kohli. His courtship with Tanisha Mukherjee combined with the duo’s candid chemistry exhibited onscreen rendered the actress’ family members – sister Kajol, mother Tanuja and brother-in-law Ajay Devgn – somewhat discomfited. With his husky and over-the-pitch voice that goes perfectly with his bulky personality played well in demoralising other inmates, but what separates him from the rest is his imbalanced temper that led to a physical altercation and had him arrested, later, evicted from the house of ‘Bigg Boss’ season 7.

Imam Siddiqui, Sapna Bhavani, Ajaz Khan, Veena Mallik, and Ali Quli Mirza win honorary mentions here. ‘Bigg Boss’ season 11, which is scheduled for a wrap on January 14, has generated enough heat to ward off the winter chill and keep us warm and cosy in our living rooms. But the tension is still on the rise and will continue to be so until the finale. Shilpa or Hina, who would you put your money on?
