Hyderabad: Secunderabad MP Bandaru Dattatreyya on Saturday demanded that the Telangana Government take immediate steps to bring back the lost glory of Osmania University, which will be completing 100 years of formation soon.

Speaking to mediapersons here, Dattatreyya said the OU management had failed to preserve its original status and did not approach the authorities even for NAC accreditation. He said Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani had assured him of full cooperation in case the OU authorities or State government required any assistance in the matter. He asked the TRS government to prepare a detailed plan to celebrate the 100 years of OU formation and take immediate steps to restore its original glory.

Meanwhile, the TBJP also strongly condemned the TRS government for taking back the land allotted to the APNGOs. The state president G Kishen Reddy said the land given to APNGOs was not for commercial or industrial purposes. He said the land was meant for the welfare of employees of State government and therefore, no conditions were laid at the time of allotment. He appealed to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to return the land to APNGOs in the larger interest of Telangana. He said such moves might exacerbate the avoidable tension between the two States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Kishan Reddy said by taking away the land KCR was setting a bad precedent and it would lead to provoke animosities among the Telugu speaking people.
