Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Ponnala Lakshmaiah strongly criticised the Central government for coming up with Railways budget that has totally ignored the common man. Speaking to media at Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday, the TPCC president described the year's Railway Budget as elitist, which ignored the poor altogether.

He condemned that Centre was further burdening the people as it had already hiked the passenger charges by 14 per cent and freight charges by 6 per cent.
Lakshmaiah was also critical of the Centre completely ignoring the Telangana state in allocating new rail projects and questioned the need for bullet train between Ahmedabad and Mumbai when there were many regions across the country that need new lines.

The TPCC chief held that the BJP which promised to give support for the development of the Telangana State had failed to do so. He sought to know why the Centre was least bothered of Telangana state with regard to new coach factory, modernisation of Secunderabad Railway Station and non-allocation of new projects.
Meanwhile, Ponnala charged the TRS government of confusing farmers on the issue of loan waiver scheme. Despite completion of one month at the helm of affairs, the Chief Minister had failed to address the grievances of people on many fronts, he criticised.
