The holy event Godavari Pushkaralu will begin from Tuesday in Telangana state. The River Godavari enters Telangana state at Kandukurti in Nizamabad district. For this pushkaralu as many as 18 ghats have been built at 11 places in the district.

Nizamabad: The holy event Godavari Pushkaralu will begin from Tuesday in Telangana state. The River Godavari enters Telangana state at Kandukurti in Nizamabad district. For this pushkaralu as many as 18 ghats have been built at 11 places in the district.


They are Kandukurti, Tadbiloli, Kosli, Binola, Tungini, Ummeda, Pochampadu, Savel, Tadpakal, Gummiryal, Domchanda. A large number of pilgrims are expected to visit three of the places for holy dip. Keeping this in view the district administration arranged four ghats at Kandukurit and Pochampadu, two at Tadpakal. The other famous ghats in Nizamabad district is Pocham- padu on the banks of river Go- davari and Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) Where officials arranged four ghats.

In Pochampadu there are two famous temples, Kodanda Ramalayam, Rama Lingeshwar- alayam and SRSP Project. The Third biggest pushkar ghat in Nizamabad district is Tadpakal of Morthad mandal. Here officials arranged two Pushkar ghats where there is lord Srirama tem- ple.


The other famous ghats are in Nizamabad district are Tungini, Ummeda; Tungini is famous for Hanuman temple and Ummeda is well-known for Uma Maheshwara Swami temple. Ghats upstream SRSP are facing water scarcity, but there is sufficient water in ghats downstream.


The district officials and State government are trying to secure water from Maharashtra project for Kandukurti, Tadbiloli, Kosli, Binola, Tungini, Ummeda Ghats. The district officials are re- leasing water from SRSP for Pochampadu, Savel, Tadpakal, Gummiryal and Domchanda Ghats.
